17 The Lanes

The cottage was purchased in 2018 and underwent a sympathetic refurbishment before opening as a holiday cottage in April 2019.

It now combines  character with modern convenience.  There is a cosy lounge with log burner and a well fitted kitchen.  The cottage has two bedrooms – 1 kingsize and 1 twin.  We also offer free WiFi, freeview TV with built in DVD player, Netflix and a selection of DVD’s, games and books.  Maps and walking books are also provided.

There is a peaceful and secure sun trap garden for relaxing with a glass of wine or local beer.

The high peak trail is on our doorstep along with glorious walking and cycling.  We also have secure storage for bikes on site too.

Dogs are very welcome but we do ask that they are not allowed on the furniture or beds (2 dogs max & we charge £25 extra).

Wirksworth is a small market town on the edge of the Peak District.  Nestled in the Bolehill area high above the town, 17 The Lanes is perfectly located for exploring the quirks of Wirksworth and the delights of the surrounding Peak District and Derbyshire Dales.

This is a perfect location for enjoying all sorts of outdoor activities or just to use as a base to explore the area. Matlock, Ashbourne, Bakewell, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth are all within very easy reach and Carsington Water is only a mile away.

Wirksworth punches well above its small size in terms of its thriving community and many activities. The town’s welcome sign proclaims it is the ‘gem of the peak’ and it’s not wrong.

Please note that the cottage is built into a hillside so that the garden is accessed from the first floor across a small footbridge. There are drops to retain two sides of the garden from the cottage but these are well fenced with fencing approximately 3’6″ high. It is not suitable for wheel chair access.

Parking is available at the cottage for two vehicles.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Lanes.
