Is there parking at the cottage?
Yes, there is dedicated off road parking for two vehicles.
Do you accept dogs?
Yes, up to 2 dogs are very welcome at The Lanes (may be more by agreement). We do ask that they are not allowed on the furniture or left unattended in the cottage. We charge £25 extra for your dogs (total charge). Our dog policy can be viewed under our T&Cs.
Is the garden secure?
Yes, the garden is well fenced with 6ft fencing and high stone walls. It is private and secure.
Are there walks from the door?
Yes, you can walk in any direction from the door and walk for as long as you like. Wirksworth is a short ten minute walk away. Maps and guide books are provided in the cottage as well to help you plan your routes.
What is there to see and do locally?
Wirksworth is a great base for exploring either on foot or further afield. More details can be found on our ‘nearby’ page.
What amenities are close by?
Wirksworth has a large co-operative supermarket a short drive or ten minute walk from the cottage. There are lots of independent shops, cafes and restaurants in the town too. Larger shops can be found in nearby Matlock.

Are there DVD's and/or Netflix?
Yes, we have a large collection of DVD’s with something for everyone. We also have Netflix. There are also books and games in the cottage.

Yes, we supply a starter pack for the log burner. Additional bags of logs are available at the cottage if needed at a cost of £10 per bag.
Is the cottage accessible for people with limited mobility?
No, I am afraid not. The cottage is built into a hillside so the garden is accessed from upstairs via a small gantry and some stone steps. There is also a small step to the front door.
Do you have a travel cot?
Yes, a travel cot can be made available on request. I am afraid we do not provide cot linen.
Can we have groceries delivered?
Yes, all of the major supermarkets – Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Asda and Waitrose – will deliver to The Lanes. Alternatively, for locally sourced produce have a look at saucedhere.co.uk
Do you have a charge point for electric vehicles?
No, this is not something we have at the moment and we ask that cars are NOT charged by trickle feed from the cottage as it could cause issues with our electric supply and would involve trailing a lead over the lane. There are nearby charge points at the local garage and in the market square in Wirksworth.
Is smoking allowed?
No, the cottage is non smoking.
Do you have a microwave?
Yes, there is a microwave.
